In KOMO’s Beyond The Podium series, Holly Menino spoke with the two candidates running for Washington’s First Congressional District. Democratic Incumbent Suzan DelBene is facing Republican Challenger Vincent Cavaleri.
While both said inflation is the most pressing issue their answers varied on the other top two issues they plan to tackle right away. DelBene said making healthcare more affordable and also standing up for rights is what she’d tackle immediately.
“We need to make sure we are standing up for rights. Standing up for women’s reproductive rights. Standing up for voting rights. And standing against extremism. We have a precious democracy and it is important that all of us play our part in upholding our democracy,” said DelBene.
