In the time he’s been back in office, Trump has brazenly violated the law, threatened the safety of our communities, and jeopardized our country’s economic security. I am fighting every single day as Chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) to win us a majority in November 2026, so that we can hold this administration accountable.
Once Democrats re-take the majority, we will reassert Congress’s constitutional authority, including the subpoena power that the Republican majority has surrendered to Trump. As a member of the Ways & Means Oversight Subcommittee, I will help lead a Democratic majority in holding this administration accountable and provide transparency to the American people.
I have fought back against Trump’s reckless war of choice in Iran, led the fight against his illegal tariffs, and stood against giving ICE a blank check. I will continue to fight for real reforms to the out of control agency.
When Trump attempted to unlawfully halt federal grants in order to advance his agenda during his first weeks in office, I fought to stop these reckless actions that would have caused significant harm to our communities. In less than 24 hours, he was forced to lift his blanket freeze on the funds.
I have consistently spoken out against attempts to disenfranchise voters, including both versions of the so-called “SAVE Act” which would undermine eligible voters’ constitutional right to vote and infringe on their data.
The Supreme Court decision in Louisiana v. Callais is just the latest example of Trump and Republicans attempts to rig the midterms. The decision shows the need for national legislation to protect the rights of all voters, end these mid-decade gerrymanders, and the far-right’s assault on the Voting Rights Act. I am an original cosponsor and loud advocate for the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act to do just that.
If Republicans try to dismantle seats or erode our rights – we’ll fight back. In the courthouse, the statehouse, and at the ballot box.
Some of Trump’s most egregious acts include his Executive Order to end birthright citizenship, the mass layoffs of federal workers with no regard for the impact on the services and the programs that the American taxpayer depends on, and the termination of hundreds of billions of federal grants that fund lifesaving research and critical infrastructure projects to keep America’s economy moving.
In response, I have fought back in the courts. I have provided arguments to the courts in over 30 cases, seeking to protect the 14th Amendment, unfreeze hundreds of billions of dollars of federal grants, overturn illegal tariffs, preserve the jobs of tens of thousands of federal employees living and working in Washington State, and protect women’s access to reproductive care.
As Chair of the DCCC, I have also fought tirelessly against Trump’s redistricting schemes. He and his MAGA majority know they can’t win on the issues, so they are trying everything they can to rig the midterms. We’ve taken action in courts across the country on everything from redistricting to campaign finance.
